In adherence to the significance of Republic Act No. 10173, otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA), the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), through the Special Operations Division (SOD) in partnership with the Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO), successfully conducted the two-day training on Data Privacy and Cybersecurity on September 11–12, 2023, at the Mall of Alnor, Cotabato City.
“𝘐𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢-𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢-𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺. 𝘗𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘪 𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 ‘𝘥𝘪 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘪𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭.” MPOS Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid Balt said during his opening message.
The training is envisioned to provide essential knowledge and skills needed to understand, use, and apply data privacy and cybersecurity. Also, it focuses on enhancing and safeguarding the Ministry’s collected and stored data and information by introducing national and international standards, whether paper or electronic. BICTO’s Network and Security Section Chief, Mr. Arnold S. Cararag during his lecture said, “𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦.” He added, “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘢𝘸, 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘴, 𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘺.”
The Ministry’s Special Operation Division’s Chief Datu Marohomsar Gaya acknowledged the cruciality of a data management system as another approach to providing an adequate basis for future initiatives and interventions. According to him, “𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦, 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘨-𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘵 𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯. The two-day event was joined by around sixty-two (62) Ministry personnel from various offices, divisions, and sections. “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘶𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴,” stated Mr. Nasrodeyn Matapid, SOD’s Development Management Officer III.

Through this training, MPOS once again exhibits its commitment to complying with the Data Privacy Act to strengthen public confidence and trust in the Ministry’s competencies in delivering its mandates and functions with quality and excellence in Bangsamoro.
