Zamboanga City – Highlighting the significance of resolving conflicts in the region, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety recently conducted a 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗠 with its project partner the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), to supplement and enhance the Ministry’s database on rido conflicts in the region.
To kick-start the project, the Ministry and the CBCS held the orientation on March 17, 2023 at the Diamond Hall of the Grand Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City. The attendees were presented with the project work plan, process flow, conflict profiling template, and the use of KobotoolBox (an online profiling tool).
“𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔, 𝘸𝘢𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘩𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘺𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘚𝘖.” CBCS Project Manager Alimudin M. Mala said to his CBCS colleagues from Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi. He also shared insights into potential techniques and strategies to overcome any gaps or challenges that may arise during implementation.

The project’s outcome is a valuable tool for future interventions, such as rido settlement, rehabilitation of affected communities, and capacity development for local mediators in the Bangsamoro.
