Midsayap, North Cotabato | Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) organized two (2) community monitoring and evaluation activity dubbed as “Mashuwara Kalilintad: A community conversation on Public Order and Safety” in two (2) MILF-communities in North Cotabato both under the Special Geographic Area of the Bangsamoro region namely Brgy. Libungan Torreta in Pigcawayan and Brgy. Tumbras in Midsayap. The activity was held on May 17 and 19, 2022 respectively. Around fifty (50) individuals were gathered to share their narratives and sentiments about the public order and safety of their communities. Thirty (30) individuals were from Brgy. Libungan Torreta in Pigcawayan while twenty (20) individuals were from Brgy. Tumbras in Midsayap.
MILF community leaders, barangay and sectoral representatives participated the community conversation. They freely shared their concerns that eventually revealed the root cause of the challenges they encountered.
Most of the issues were focused on the existence of a prolonged family conflict (rido) in the community and vehement incidents that affect also the security and safety of the people living nearby.
Midsayap Municipal Police Station Chief PCOL Rolly Oranza expressed his appreciation in working together with MPOS to maintain the security and safety of the communities. He said, and we quote: โMasaya kami na mayroon kaming katuwang sa public order and safety dito sa Midsayap, North Cotabato at willing po kami makipagtulungan at makipagcollaborate sa MPOS para mapaayos ang ating mga komunidad.โ
The activity aimed to understand and document recurring public order and safety incidents, concerns and challenges encountered by the community that affects the peace, public order and development of the community. The inputs collected will be used in designing a responsive program for the Bangsamoro people and its communities.
