In honor of the centennial memorial of the ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐น๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ด also known as ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in cooperation with the Municipal Local Government of Bayang, Bangsamoro Commission on Preservation of Cultural Heritage, and Moriatao Diwan Young Professionals (MDYP) pay tribute to the courageous men and women of Kota Pandapatan who valiantly defended their homeland on May 2, 1902.
The battle took place in Brgy. Sultan Pandapatan, Bayang, Lanao del Sur and was described by historians as the “Fiercest battle in all of the insurrection”; where numerous noble individuals sacrificed their lives defending the Moro land against the American Expeditionary Forces. This battle sparked the genesis of the Moro-American War that lasted between 1902 to 1915.
Today, hundreds of individuals, including representatives and leaders from the local government units, civil society organizations, traditional leaders, students, and residents, among others, participated in the commemoration.
This commemoration is implemented through the Ministry’s “Popularization of Bangsamoro Historical Events” program that aims to raise public awareness on the Bangsamoro’s significant historical events. Also, it popularizes narratives that highlight values that has become part of the Bangsamoro’s social fabric.
