On April 17-18, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in partnership with the Office of Member of the Parliament Said Z. Salendab conducted a peacebuilding training for twenty (20) widows of martyrs from Buluan, Maguindanao. The event was held at Paraiso Verde Hotel and Resort in Koronadal, South Cotabato.
The activity was implemented through MP Salendab’s Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) which. The aims purpose of the program was to extend government services, programs, and activities to vulnerable communities in the region. It is part of the government’s commitment to sustain the gains of the Bangsamoro peace process towards normalization. MP Salendab’s TDIF Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) implemented this activity.
During the training, participants underwent discussion on “Building a Culture of Peace in Islam” tackled by Ustadza Anisa Taha, President of Women Tarbiyyah Council. And part of the program were workshops where the participants were able to freely share their narratives and lived realities as widows of martyred MILF members.
After the training, each participant received Php 20,000 (twenty thousand) of financial assistance to support to their transition to a conflict-free society and support their means of livelihood.
