NORTH UPI, MAGUINDANAO — As the Normalization Phase of the Peace Agreement between the GPH and MILF continues, a newly constructed Joint Peace and Security Team (JPST) Station at Brgy. Ganassi, North Upi, Maguindanao was turn-over ceremonially to members of JPST members (AFP, PNP and BIAF) last March 4, 2021.
The peace station will serve as headquarters for JPST members to perform their operational peacebuilding activities towards maintaining the peace and stability in North Upi and its adjacent areas and communities. Reading of Deployment Orders, Activation of the JPST- North Upi Maguindanao Station and Donning of Beret and Brassard to the JPST members were also conducted during the turn-over ceremony.
Under the leadership of Minister MP Hussein Muñoz, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) fully support this project. In behalf of Minister Muñoz, Col. Abdulbasher Bongcarawan, the ministry’s security consultant, graced the event along with other members of the GPH and MILF – JNC (Joint Normalization Committee), Joint Peace and Security Committee (JPSC), United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), MENRE-BARMM, MPW-BARMM, Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, North Upi’s Local Chief Executives, security sector partners and stakeholders.
The project was completed through the substantial contribution of the Government of Japan under UNDP- Japan Assistance to Normalization Project in support to the Normalization Phase of the Peace Agreement between the GPH and MILF.
