70 former combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front underwent Peacebuilding Training conducted by the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) last July 18-19, 2023 at Ragayan Training Center, Marantao, Lanao del Sur.
The goal of the said two-day event was to equip the former combatants with essential peacebuilding concepts while also incorporating Islamic principles and values. This is part of the MPOS’ efforts of fostering a secure and harmonious Bangsamoro community.
Moreover, the program offered a platform for the former combatants to share their transformational stories – from their past struggle for freedom to their current roles as ordinary citizens in their respective communities. In this respect, one participant remarked, “𝘕𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘗𝘖𝘚 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘯𝘪𝘺𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘯.”
After the training, the former combatants received financial assistance of Ten Thousand Pesos (Php10,000.00). This year, MPOS has engaged 203 former combatants from across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
