On August 8, 2024, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) distributed financial assistance to eight (8) members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) who chose to return to the fold of law. They were presented by the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division of the Philippine Army led by Commanding Officer LtC Udgie C. Villain Inf (GSC) PA.
As part of its ongoing peacebuilding efforts, MPOS provided Php 5,000 for each of the returnees to aid them in their community integration as civilians.
Ms. Sittie Janine Gamao, MPOS Chief of the Peace Education Division, was present during the event and stated that, “𝘏𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘥𝘢𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘱𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬-𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘣, 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘰𝘬 𝘱𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘣 𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰, 𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘱 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘬-𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘣 𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯.𝘏𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘨-𝘢𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘰𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥.”
To continue the Ministry’s effort in encouraging these former local insurgents to become part of its Bantay Kapayapaan advocacy, these 8 returnees will be enrolled to peacebuilding initiatives of the Ministry.
