Pigcawayan, North Cotabato | A total of sixty (60) participants from the Bangsamoro special geographic areas (SGA) in North Cotabato, thirty (30) from Midsayap and thirty (30) from Pigcawayan, North Cotabato were capacitated on the fundamentals of early warning and early response (EWER) mechanism and community participation through MPOS’ Community Driven Safety and Security (CDSS) program. The training was held on May 19 and 20, 2022, respectively.
The training aims to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism and equip the participants of viable knowledge and skills in promoting safety and peace within their communities.
The participants are called MPOS Community Volunteers. They are composed of barangay peacekeepers, religious leaders and civil society organization representatives.
On May 19, the CDSS training was conducted at Ace Royale Suites, Midsayap, North Cotabato. The participants are residents of Brgy. Mudseng, Brgy Malingao and Brgy Tumbras. While on May 20, the training was conducted at NDiola’s Ship Hauz Function Hall, Pigcawayan. The thirty (30) participants are from Brgy. Simsiman, Brgy Matilac, Brgy Libungan Toreta, North Cotabato. Discussions include community profiling and mapping, conflict analysis, report writing, and commitment.
One of the community volunteers from Midsayap during the open forum said, we quote, “Gamitin natin ang mga natutunan natin sa training na ito sa ikakabuti ng ating komunidad. Huwag nating abusuhin ang binigay na tiwala ng MPOS at pahalagahan natin ang oportunidad na ito. Alagaan natin ang ating identity bilang isang MPOS Community Volunteers.”
This training is part of the ministry’s effort to continually establish a strong partnership with communities in sustaining public order and safety in the region.
