The Ministry of Public Order and Safety gathered 24 community and religious leaders in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) during its Dialogue Beyond Diversity: An Interfaith Collaboration Towards a Peaceful Community held in early November, where they crafted an action plan to address the pressing issues and concerns on public order and safety, particularly in Pikit, North Cotabato.
“You have the power to influence the thinking and mindset of your community,” MP Mohammad Kellie U. Antao reminded the participants.
The dialogue is a direct response of the Ministry to the series of violent conflicts resulting in the loss of lives in Pikit and discussed collaborative efforts among leaders in SGA by taking part in helping to resolve pressing issues and identifying ways how to influence and promote peaceful co-existence in SGA, including the creation of a Religious-Military Advisory Group.
According to Col. Donald M. Gumiran, Acting Brigade Commander of 602nd Brigade, 6ID Philippine Army,“ You have the moral ascendancy to your stakeholders, to your community.”
A representative of MP Abdullah B. Hashim, the 6CMO and 602 Brigade, 6ID Philippine Army participated in the dialogue.
