In line with the observance of the Holy Month of Ramadhan 1444 AH, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) hosted an Islamic Symposium for its employees on April 19, 2023 at the Diamond Hall, Em Manor Hotel and Convention Center, Cotabato City, BARMM, with the theme “Ramadhan brings people together towards love, peace, and unity.”
The symposium aimed to provide employees with an opportunity to learn, connect, and foster understanding about Islam even across diverse culture and religion.
MPOS Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid L. Balt remarked the importance of this activity as an opportunity to reflect, correct, and avoid sins during and after Ramadhan. In his opening message, he said: “𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘶𝘬𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨, 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘰 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘸𝘪𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘪𝘵𝘰, 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘺 𝘬𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘱𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘩𝘢𝘯.” He also encouraged the attendees to take the lessons to heart and actively work on applying it, in order to fully benefit from the activity.
Participation in the symposium was not limited to Muslims only; both Muslim and non-Muslim employees actively engaged and demonstrated mutual respect, religious tolerance, and shared commitment to peaceful coexistence.
Ustadz Nhorul-am A. Abdullah, a well known Bangsamoro Islamic preacher, expounded his topic of discussion on “Life of employees: A way to Dunya to Akhirat.” He said, “𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘪, 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘰, 𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘮𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘯.”
Meanwhile, Ustadz Mohammad H. Gandawali, Jr. discussed the key differences of Moral and Good Governance, as well as its application to every life of an employee. “𝘈𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨-𝘶𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘪, 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘱𝘺𝘰 𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰, 𝘬𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘮𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘩𝘰, 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘪𝘵𝘰.” Ustadz Gandawali stressed in his lecture.
The Ministry is optimistic that the conduct of the Islamic symposium created a platform for employees to connect, engage in discussion, and build a sense of community within the Ministry in delivering effective and efficient public service to the Bangsamoro.
