On June 11, 2023, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety in collaboration with its partners successfully resolved a 4-year feud between two families in Barangay Sandah, Patikul, Sulu. The event concluded with the signing of an amicable settlement and a ceremonial hand-shaking, symbolizing a genuine and long-lasting reconciliation between the two families.
Barangay Chairman Jay-Rulla A. Hawari of Sandah, Patikul, Sulu expressed his profound gratitude to the Ministry for bringing an end to the longstanding conflict in their community. “𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯. 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.” he said.
The Ministry in conjunction with the Municipal Local Government Unit, community leaders, local mediators, and law enforcement agencies had played crucial roles in facilitating the settlement process. Additionally, the willingness and cooperation demonstrated by the conflicting families were pivotal in achieving a positive outcome. Through their collective efforts and collaboration, a harmonious resolution to the rido was achieved.
Rido Settlement is one of the major activities of the Ministry under the “Alternative Dispute Resolution” program for the effective settlement of family feuds and other horizontal conflicts towards ensuring a safe, secure, and peaceful Bangsamoro.
