Cotabato City | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS)-BARMM is actively pursuing the goal of streamlining government procurement processes through the integration of technology. To facilitate this initiative, thirty (30) key personnel and representatives from various divisions and sections of the Ministry underwent a comprehensive hands-on workshop titled “Automation of Procurement Documentation using Google Sheets.” This workshop, was conducted by Mr. Almansor Pendatun, CPA, CIA, REB, REA, MDM, an expert in Google Sheet features and functions. The training took place at the Paragon Hotel and Restaurant in Cotabato City on September 8 and 9, 2023.
The integration of technology, specifically Google Sheets, into the procurement processes is poised to optimize the Ministry’s administrative operations by establishing a centralized system capable of real-time tracking and monitoring of procurement activities. Mr. Pendatun emphasized the significance of this technological advancement, stating, “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢-𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯-𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘻𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴, 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.”
During the workshop, real-life scenarios from the Ministry’s procurement documents such as PPMP were incorporated and simulated to ensure a more efficient and practical approach to procurement processes.
In the midst of the training, MPOS Information Officer III, Manal J. The accomplishment of this endeavor was made possible through the collaborative endeavor of the Accounting Section within the Administrative and Finance Division (AFD) of the Ministry. Ultimately, the strategic adoption of technology in procurement is expected to result in cost savings and enhanced overall operational performance for the Ministry.
