In a remarkable effort to safeguard the well-being and public safety of the Bangsamoro people, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-BARMM have committed to preventive education by mass-producing and distributing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials that highlight the risks, dangers, and negative effects of illegal drugs.The activity was held at the PDEA-BARMM Regional Office, P.C. Hill, Cotabato City on March 08, 2024.
“𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘤𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘴.” Director Gil Cesario P. Castro of PDEA-BARMM emphasized the potential impact of preventive educational measures in the fight against illegal drugs.
A total of 900 copies of “Komiks” were produced. The content was translated into dialects and languages prominently used in BARMM areas such as Maguindanaon, Meranao, and Tausug. This was done to ensure its accessibility and its impact on the community. The turn-overed IEC materials during the ceremony signified both MPOS’ and PDEA’s unwavering commitment toward a safer, peaceful, and drug-free Bangsamoro.

This initiative is part of the Ministry’s regular program known as CLEAR, which aims to bolster coordination mechanisms between the Ministry of Public Order and Safety and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs). This is to cultivate an atmosphere of cooperation and open communication, essential for upholding peace, security, and safety within the region.
