Lamitan City, Basilan| The Ministry of Public Order and Safety organized a “Capacity Development for Local Mediators of Basilan” at Farmland Resort in Isabela City on April 24-25, 2024. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the local mediators in conflict resolution and peacekeeping efforts within their community in the province.

Vijahad Kanni, Legal Officer of the Isabela City Schools Division Office said during his lecture and presentation as resource person of the training.
Forty (40) community local mediators from the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), community leaders, and representatives from non-governmental organizations. The participants also engaged in workshops, training sessions, and interactive discussions focused on effective mediation techniques, communication strategies, and legal frameworks related to conflict resolution.

Amlain, also one of the resource person of the training, currently the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) facilitator for Values Transformation Training emphasized the significant role of the local mediators in the province.
This training highlights the Ministry’s dedication to fostering peace and stability in Basilan by equipping local mediators with essential skills and knowledge. The event served as a platform for the local mediators to connect, exchange insights, and enhance their ability to support peaceful conflict resolutions within their communities in the Basilan province.
