The Ministry of Public Order and Safety actively empowered 30 dedicated Local Women Mediators in Maguindanao del Norte through its Capacity Development for Local Mediators held at the Darul Aman Function Hall, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte on June 25-27, 2024.
The activity served as a platform for the remarkable local women mediators to enhance, strengthen, and hone their skills in facilitating peaceful resolutions of horizontal conflicts in within their communities. Key topics covered included the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act of 2004, handling Small Claims Cases, Developing Cultural Competency, Understanding Power Dynamics, Managing Emotions, and Incorporating Trauma-informed Mediation practices.
Mrs. Rebeca Mokudef, a local woman mediator from South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur, representing the Teduray Lambangian Women Organization Inc. (TLWOI), expressed her gratitude during the program’s sharing session. She stated, “𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘔𝘗𝘖𝘚 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘐𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘕𝘰𝘸, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 – 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘋𝘙 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 2004.”
The intervention signified the Ministry’s unwavering commitment in fostering a culture of peace in the Bangsamoro. Through equipping local mediators with the necessary tools and knowledge, MPOS continues to empower communities to effectively address horizontal conflicts that significantly contribute to the efforts of the Bangsamoro Government towards a peaceful, developed, and progressive society.
