𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) officially held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Bangsamoro Peace Training Center under the Ministry’s Special Development Fund 2022 at the 111th Base Command in Barangay Ompaw, Tarragona on October 31, 2024.
In a message, MPOS Minister Hussein P. Muñoz emphasized that the Peace Training Center embodies the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to the legacy and sacrifices of the Mujahideen, who have been instrumental in the Bangsamoro struggle for self-determination.
“𝘐𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘴𝘺𝘰 𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢 𝘪-𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰, 𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔,” he stated.
This project is a crucial step in BARMM’s mandate to deliver peace-building infrastructure in communities that were deeply impacted by conflict.
Minister Muñoz also remarked on the inclusivity of the Peace Training Center, stating it is available for use by all residents of Barangay Ompaw, regardless of cultural or ethnic background, and will serve as a neutral venue for various community activities, “𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘣𝘢’𝘵- 𝘪𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘳𝘶𝘱𝘰, 𝘉𝘐𝘞𝘈𝘉, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘗𝘴” he added.
He reiterated that the center’s establishment aligns with the strategic goal of promoting cohesive, peaceful coexistence within culturally diverse communities.
The construction of the Peace Training Center is a core component of the Social Transformation Program under the SDF 2022 that strives to extend sustainable peace initiatives and essential services to Bangsamoro communities situated outside the core territory.
Abu Saf Onofrie, Brigade Commander of 111th Base Command expressed his heartfelt support to the MPOS and the Bangsamoro government for reaching their camps as one of the beneficiaries of the project under the SDF, in his message of support, “𝘚𝘢 𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔 𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘴𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘗𝘖𝘚 𝘈𝘭𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩.” he stated.
The facility is the outcome of the sacrifices the Mujahideens made for years to achieve their right to self-determination, “𝘐𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘫𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘪 𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩, 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯, 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘫𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵.” he added.
On a separate note, building essential infrastructure for peace-building in historically conflict-affected areas addresses the complex needs of communities in transition, especially among former combatants who have played essential roles in BARMM’s journey toward self-governance and self-determination.
The Peace Training Center will serve as a central facility for transformative, educational and peace activities and also an enduring symbol of the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to inclusivity and resilience.
MPOS continues to demonstrate lasting peace and development pathways through the provisions for peace and rehabilitation, thus solidifying a foundation for sustainable, inclusive development across BARMM’s extended territories.
