Lamitan City, Basilan | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety broke ground for the new Bangsamoro Peace Playground in Sayugan, Brgy. Maligaya, Lamitan City, Basilan on July 31, 2024 through the TDIF program of Hon. Muslimin Jakilan, a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), who has played a significant role in advancing community development in the region.
At the event, Hon. Muslimin Jakilan emphasized the significance of investing in the younger generation and providing them with recreational areas. He highlighted that the Bangsamoro Peace Playground will serve as more than just a recreational facility, but also as a communal space where families can gather and engage in various activities. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Public Order and Safety for their support in bringing this initiative to fruition.

Jakilan stated.
Also present during the ceremony were representatives from the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) to witness the commencement of this promising project. The Playground Center aims to provide a secure environment for children to engage, promoting physical activity and social interaction among the youth. It serves as a symbol of peace and unity, not just a recreational space but a platform for community involvement and the cultivation of peace values among young people. This initiative aligns with the BTA’s objectives to enhance the quality of life in the Bangsamoro region through sustainable development.
Moreover, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bangsamoro Peace Playground exemplifies the commitment of the BTA and community leaders to enhance the welfare of the community through deliberate development efforts. The project is expected to bring about a beneficial and enduring impact on the youth and families of Lamitan City that aims to cultivate a vibrant and engaged community.
This program is part of the endeavors of the Ministry to achieve enduring peace in the Bangsamoro under its mandate to implement programs related to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification.
