Twenty-nine young peacebuilders gathered at the 3rd Bangsamoro Peace Promotion Fellowship (BPPF) from September 25 to 28, 2023, at the Greenleaf Hotel in General Santos City.
“I am profoundly grateful for this program, which offered incredibly insightful discussions on peacebuilding. I’ve particularly gained valuable insights into women’s roles in promoting peace,” expressed Farhanah Macatembol, a participant hailing from Lanao del Sur. Her reflections emphasized the crucial intersection of gender and peacebuilding and the significant contributions young women can make as peace advocates.
These dedicated young peace fellows were selected through a competitive process to represent their respective communities. The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) believes that these emerging leaders will serve as catalysts, spreading the message of peace throughout the region. The program serves as a platform to gather insights from the youth participants regarding the ongoing and evolving peace and security challenges in their areas. It also equips them with valuable peacebuilding skills, supports their feasible peace initiatives, and helps foster a network of peace advocates in remote, vulnerable, and conflict-affected communities across the region.
Since its inception in 2020, the Bangsamoro Peace Promotion Fellowship has rapidly evolved into a network comprising more than 100 youth leaders and continues to grow throughout the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
