Marantao, LDS| On June 13-15, 2023, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) dedicated its efforts to conduct an “Organizing and Capability Development for the Pindig Agro-Fisheries Producer Cooperative” from Butig, Lanao del Sur. The training took place at the Ragayan Training Center in Marantao, Lanao del Sur, and is a key component of the Ministry’s Butig Rehabilitation Program, supported by the Bangsamoro Government’s Special Development Fund (SDF).
The aim of the initiative was to empower and enhance the capabilities of the Pindig Agro-Fisheries Producer Cooperative, further contributing to their growth and development. With a focus on organizational skills and building capacities, the program sought to equip the cooperative with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in the agro-fisheries sector.
The Pindig Agro-Fisheries Producer Cooperative attended by its 30 dedicated members from Barangay Sundig and Barangay Pindolonan in the Municipality of Butig, Lanao del Sur concluded the three-day training program. The training witnessed active participation from the cooperative’s members, who eagerly absorbed the knowledge and skills imparted by expert trainers. Through workshops, simulations, and practical exercises, the participants gained valuable insights into effective organizational management, marketing strategies, and the latest developments in the agro-fisheries industry.

In a show of support and collaboration, the event welcomed esteemed representatives from various crucial agencies and institutions. These distinguished guests included the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform Lanao del Sur Office (MAFAR Lanao Provincial Office), LGU Butig, BLGU Sundig, CSEA-BARMM, LDS Provincial Cooperative Office (PCO), and the Mindanao State University College of Fisheries and Aquatic Science (MSU-CFAS).
Brgy. Chairman Abolais P. Macatbar of Sundig, Butig Lanao del Sur, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying “𝘞𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘗𝘖𝘚 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦. On behalf of the Ministry, MPOS’ Peace Program Officer V Sittie Janine Gamao emphasized the significance of cooperativism in addressing challenges faced by conflict-affected areas like Butig. She highlighted MPOS’ commitment to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification, and proposed the funding of the Butig Rehabilitation Program through the Special Development Fund. The Butig Rehabilitation Program, funded through the Ministry’s SDF, underscores the government’s commitment to rebuilding and revitalizing conflict-affected areas.
By providing support and resources to cooperatives like Pindig Agro-Fisheries Producer Cooperative, the Ministry endeavors to create sustainable livelihood opportunities and promote economic stability within the community. This is also in furtherance and materialization of the endeavors and commitment of the Ministry towards an enduring peace in the Bangsamoro under its mandate to implement programs related to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification.
