The Ministry of Public Order and Safety continues its relentless pursuit towards peace by reconciling 2 (two) feuding families through its Rido Settlement at the 18th Infantry Battalion, Brgy Campo Uno, Lamitan City, Basilan on July 7, 2024.
The said rido settlement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of MPOS with the 18th Infantry Battalion, Local Government Unit of Lamitan City, Punong Barangays in the area, and the Basilan Local Alternative Dispute Resolution Association Inc.
INF GSC PA Commanding Officer 18 IB, LTC Mark Serapion L. Lagud Jr. emphasized the importance of forgiveness in pursuing the path towards lasting peace. “𝘈𝘭𝘢𝘮 𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘱, 𝘮𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘥 𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯. 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺𝘢. 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥. 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘱𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳.” He stated.
Symbolizing the genuine reconciliation of the conflicting parties was the turnover of two M14 riffles to the proper authorities. The rido settlement signified the Ministry’s efforts to support the Bangsamoro Government’s overarching goal towards a peaceful, developed, and progressive Bangsamoro Region.
