On June 13, 2023, a resolution of a long-standing conflict or rido settlement between two families from Tuburan Municipality, Basilan happened at the Bravo Company, 18th Infantry Battalion, Brgy. Balobo, Lamitan City, Basilan. The primary objective of this event was to bring an end to a prolonged conflict between two families and promote peace and reconciliation.
Tuburan’s Municipal Councilor Husin L. Kalang conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to all the partners involved for their invaluable contributions in achieving a peaceful reconciliation. “𝘜𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘨-𝘶𝘯𝘢, 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘬𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘱 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘸 𝘯𝘢 𝘪𝘵𝘰. The Ministry of Public Order and Safety’s Basilan Affairs Section led the initiative in partnership with various organizations, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, LGU Tuburan Municipality, 101st Infantry Brigade, Philippines National Police, MILF-BIAF, and BLADRAI.
The gathering was attended by officials and representatives from the Philippine Armed Forces, MILF BIAF, Local Government Unit, BLADRAI, and religious leaders. Through the collaborative efforts of these entities, both families reached a peaceful resolution, culminating in the signing of an amicable settlement. This agreement signifies the end of the rido and represents mutual forgiveness between the clans, underscoring the significance of peace and unity.
