Cotabato City| The Ministry of Public Order and Safety organized a 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 on March 14-15, 2023 held at Royal Hall, Pagana Kutawato and Native Restaurant, Cotabato City, BARMM . The purpose of the event was to further enhance the knowledge and capacity of local mediators on mediation, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution techniques/process, and documentation, including profiling and reporting, in response to the Ministry’s objectives.
Around 40 individuals and representatives from recognized local mediators from different Municipalities of Maguindanao del Sur and del Norte, and from the Maguindanao Police Provincial Office – PROBAR were among the participants.
During the sharing session, Mr. Yusoph Palawan, Chairman of the Iranun Reconciliation Council (IRC) articulated his optimistic outlook and aspirations regarding the training program. He said, “𝘔𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘬 𝘱𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.”
The discussion encompassed a wide range of significant topics such as “Alternative Dispute Resolution in BARMM”, “Rido Settlement with the Philippine National Police: Coordination and Reconciling Filed Cases of Rido”, and “Documentation of Rido Settlement”.
Chief of Salaam Police PNCO – PMSG Ardershir T. Kahil, while delivering his presentation on the subject of “Rido Settlement with the Philippine National Police: Coordination and Reconciling Filed Cases of Rido,” made the statement, “𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘨-𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘬𝘰𝘭 𝘴𝘢 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦.”
The event concluded with an agreement among the participants, including the local mediators, Police Provincial, and Municipal Police Station, to provide full support to the Ministry in partnership with the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) to implement and sustain the peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification across the BARMM region.
