In a significant display of commitment to fostering peace and unity, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety continues to extend its support to former local insurgents (FLIs), aiding their transition back into society through peacebuilding initiatives.
Ministry of Public Order and Safety, together with the 601st Infantry Brigade, 40th Infantry Battalion, 33rd Infantry Battalion and 6th Infantry Battalion, organized a three-day peacebuilding training from July 11 to 13, 2023, offering 49 FLIs an opportunity to comprehend the fundamentals of peace, moderation, and solidarity, while providing a platform for them to share their personal stories.
During the training, Col. Ricky P. Bunayog Inf (MNSA) PA, Deputy Commander of 601st Brigade, 6ID, said, “𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺.” He emphasized the three pillars of community participation: abiding by the law, refraining from its violation, and pursuing education. Stressing the importance of empathy, he urged individuals to consider the impact of their actions, using the golden rule as their guide.
A poignant moment during the program involved participants sharing their happiest experiences of their lives. One individual exclaimed, “Masayang masaya ako dahil ngayon ko lang naramdaman ang buhay ko na malaya, namumuhay kasama ang pamilya, walang takot at di na nagtatago sa gobyerno”.
Furthermore, as a gesture for their journey towards peace, the 49 FLIs were granted financial assistance amounting to 10,000 pesos each. Grateful for the aid, one participant humbly expressed,“𝘕𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘰 𝘣𝘶, 𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘰𝘭𝘪 𝘢𝘬𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺. 𝘕𝘪𝘺𝘢 𝘣𝘢 𝘬𝘶𝘵𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘨𝘢𝘱 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪.” “𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘺𝘢 𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘨𝘢𝘱 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘶 𝘜𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘢, 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢 𝘯𝘶 𝘴𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪,” emphasizing that it’s the genuine acceptance that they are most grateful for.
Minister Hussein P. Muñoz rallied the participants, encouraging them to unite for a harmonious future for themselves and future generations. He emphasized that this peacebuilding intervention symbolizes the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to standing by its constituents and ensuring that no one is left behind. Additionally, he underscored that these efforts bring the government closer to the people, bridging the gap between them.
The journey of FLIs embracing peacebuilding represents a remarkable step towards reconciliation and community integration. Through dedicated initiatives, such as the recent training program and financial support, the MPOS, in collaboration with the peace partners, is actively shaping a society where all share peace, progress, and prosperity. This remarkable endeavor serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Ministry, signaling a hopeful future for the Bangsamoro constituents and fostering a harmonious coexistence where no one is left behind.
