In a dedicated pursuit of its mission to nurture peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unity within the Bangsamoro, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) has extended unwavering support to the Municipality of Talipao, Sulu, and its collaborative partners in their endeavor to resolve two (2) rido settlements. One of these longstanding conflicts spans seven years, deeply affecting a family within the community. This significant development unfolded on September 2, 2023, with two separate amicable settlement signings taking place at pivotal locations: the 101st Brigade in Bud Bayug, Barangay Samak, and the Talipao Municipal Building in Barangay Bilaan, both located within Talipao, Sulu.
Earlier in the day, families in conflict hailing from the municipalities of Talipao, Luuk, and Omar in Sulu came together to sign a momentous amicable agreement. These gestures serve as powerful symbols of the genuine commitment shared by both parties to bring an end to their disputes and embark on a fresh journey towards improving the well-being of their respective families and the broader community at large.
Later that same day, in the afternoon, within the premises of the Municipal Hall of Talipao, specifically at Barangay Bilaan, a significant event transpired. Two feuding families from Bud Bunga resolved their differences by signing an amicable settlement. The culmination of this remarkable agreement signing was marked by heartfelt handshakes, group embraces, and the symbolic surrender of two Garand firearms to the authorities. This historic agreement marks the conclusive end to their seven-year-long disputes, which had taken a toll on both parties, resulting in significant economic, emotional, and physical damages not only to the families involved but also to their community.
Talipao Mayor Nevocadnizar Tulawie expressed heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support and peacebuilding initiatives of the Ministry of Public Order and Safety in the Municipality of Talipao, especially in settling family feuds. He emphasized, “𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘗𝘖𝘚, 𝘪𝘴𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯. The successful resolution of the rido settlements was made possible through the relentless efforts of LGU-Talipao, led by Mayor Nevocadnizar Tulawie and councilor Mr. Mijan Hasim, with steadfast support from essential partners, including MPOS through its Alternative Dispute Resolution Division (ADRD) and Community Affairs Officers in Sulu, as well as support from the AFP, PNP, and Sulu Local Mediators, notably Mr. Armidar Aramain.
Brigadier General Eugenio C. Boqiuo of the 101st Infantry Brigade conveyed a message of encouragement and support to all attendees, emphasizing, “𝘈𝘬𝘰 𝘱𝘰 𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰.
