Sulu | On November 16-17, 2021, a livelihood program for 42 ASG returnees in the municipalities of Luuk and Omar was launched. Of the 42 ASG returnees, 20 beneficiaries from Luuk will join in the hollow block making training, while 22 beneficiaries from Omar will join in the furniture making training.
This program was launched by Gagandilan Mindanao Women Inc. (GMWI) in partnership with the 4th Marine Brigade, Sulu Provincial Task Force – ELAC, and Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) – BARMM, among others. 4th Marine Brigade was represented by its Deputy Brigade Commander, Col. Jonathan C Gabor PN(M) (GSC), while PTF-ELAC was represented by its focal person, Mr. Noenyrie Asiri. The program is a realization of reformation ideas made during the dialogue between former ASG members and the 4th Marine Brigade last October 4, 2021 at the latter’s headquarters in Luuk, Sulu.
GWMI President Wahida Abdullah praised the unwavering support of the Ministry, especially Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid Balt and his team, throughout the implementation of the program. She also expressed her gratitude to all attendees, beneficiaries, and other partners who actively participated in the program.
Atty. Balt emphasized the Ministry’s continuous support in the conduct of social integration programs designed to sustain peace and development in the region. He said, “In support to this program, the Ministry allotted a budget for the construction of a bunkhouse and workshop facility for the returnees.
Each launching ended in a ceremonial turn-over of livelihood equipment to beneficiaries.
