𝘽𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙜, 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙡 𝙎𝙪𝙧 | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) spearheaded the successful completion and turn-over of the first Tourism Development Plan in the province of Lanao del Sur on August 19, 2024 held at Sultan Pansar Gymnasium, Municipality of Butig. This activity is in line with the Ministry’s program as part of the interventions of the Bangsamoro Government through the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) to help the conflict-affected communities rehabilitate, rebuild, and develop.
This remarkable milestone represents a significant achievement to support and transform Butig, as one of the conflict-affected communities in Lanao del Sur.
MPOS Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid L. Balt highlighted the significance of the event. He mentioned that Butig Tourism Development Plan (BTDP) 2023-2027 is a component of the Butig Rehabilitation Program which is part of the endeavors of the ministry to achieve an enduring peace in the Bangsamoro under its mandate to implement programs related to peace-building, reconciliation, and unification.

The BTDP was a collaborative effort involving various government agencies, including Local Government Unit of Butig (LGU-Butig), Lanao del Sur, Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), Special Development Fund-Project Management Office (SDF-PMO), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT), Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH), Provincial Tourism, Culture and the Arts Office (PTCAO) Association of Lanao del Sur Tourism Officers (ALTO),
College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, MSU-Main Campus, and College of Forestry and Environmental Science, MSU-Main Campus to inculcate the convergence and commitment to support Butig.
During his acceptance speech, Mayor Atty. Dimnatang L. Pansar, the Chief Executive of the Local Government of Butig Municipality, Lanao del Sur acknowledged the contributions of those who made the BTDP a reality and appreciated MPOS-BARMM for prioritizing Butig in its peacebuilding intervention programs, in recognizing their potential to foster a more peaceful environment and contribute to the growth of tourism in the province.

The crafting of Butig Tourism Development Plan is one of the components of MPOS’ peace building interventions in Butig that is banking on the positive impact of paving feasible programs, projects and activities to bring about peace and development in the once conflict-stricken municipality. This program is under the ministry’s Special Development Fund, Article XIV, Section 2, of the Bangsamoro Organic Law to rebuild, rehabilitate, and develop conflict-affected communities.
