Additional 7 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) voluntarily returned to the folds of law through the efforts of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, Philippine Army. These returnees individually received Php 5,000 from the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) on August 19, 2024 in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The immediate assistance is given to them to support their needs during their community integration journey. The 7 returnees will be then enrolled in the peacebuilding program of the Ministry to become part of its advocacy in transforming them into agents of peace in their respective communities.
During the presentation program, MPOS Peace Education Division Chief Ms. Sittie Janine M. Gamao thanked the returnees for choosing the path to peace. As of this date, the Ministry provided interventions to more than 700 former local insurgents from different provinces of the Bangsamoro region. The new returnees will be prioritized in the peacebuilding interventions of the MPOS.
