On September 16, 2024, a ceasefire agreement was reached in Picong, Lanao del Sur, to resolve a long-standing clan feud (rido) between the Salagaan and Balindong families. This agreement, facilitated by the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in partnership with Reconciliatory Initiatives for Development Opportunities (RIDO) Inc., Coordination Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), Peace, Security and Reconciliation Office (PSRO), and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), was signed at the 32nd Infantry Battalion in Matling, Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
The ceasefire is crucial to reducing tensions and creating an environment conducive to mediation and a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The rido between the Salagaan and Balindong families has been a source of insecurity and unrest in the Picong community.
As the leading agency, the ministry is actively fulfilling its mandate on the implementation of the peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification throughout the Bangsamoro region.
