The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) conducted an activity dubbed as “Community-Based Peace Advocacy Against Election-Related Violence in Campo Muslim, Malabang, Lanao Del Sur. The primary purpose of the activity is to minimize the negative consequences of the election, one of which is “rido” or family feud.
Several studies suggest that one of the main causes of rido in the Bangsamoro, especially in Lanao, is election. Thus, the MPOS crafted this activity as a preventive measure to avoid the possible escalation of rido in view of the upcoming 2022 elections.
The activity is in partnership with the Ranao Ragat Task Force for Salam, Incorporated. More or less 300 individuals from various barangays of Malabang, Lanao del Sur participated the event.
Dr. Tirmizy Abdullah of MSU- Marawi, History Department discussed the topic “Building a Culture of Peace”, while Dr. Anwar Radiamoda, Acting Director of MSU-Shariah Center discussed “Alternative Dispute Resolution: Islamic Perspective”.
The same activity will also be conducted in other hotspot municipalities of the Bangsamoro.
