Isabela City, Basilan| On April 26-27, 2023, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) organized three (3) ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ in Basilan namely (1) ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐, (2) ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐๐๐น๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐, and (3) ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ณ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐. The activities were held at the Farmland Resort, Upper Lanote, Isabela City. This intervention facilitated by the Ministry’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Division, aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of local mediators in resolving rido cases within their respective communities.
The event was attended by various local mediators from Basilan, as well as representatives from the Provincial Local Government Unit, including Provincial Administrator Mr. Manny P. Muarip, and the Basilan Police Provincial Office – Philippine National Police (BPPO-PNP) Chief-PCADU PLTCOL. Javer J. Muin.
During the event, Mr. Muarip conveyed a message from Gov. Jim S. Mr. Mistiri D. Tarami from the Consortium on Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) co-facilitated the program and discussed the best practices of the province on rido settlement. This includes sessions on learning, listening, and capacity development of local mediators.
After two days of capacity development training and structured workshops, the local mediators of Basilan gained new knowledge and strategies on how to resolve rido cases within their respective municipalities. They also became members of the Basilan Local Alternative Dispute Resolution Association Incorporated (BLADRAI), under the Chairmanship of Mr. Mistiri D. Tarami, to form a unified group of local mediators with the goal of minimizing rido cases in the province.
The intervention for local mediators is under the Ministry’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, which aims to provide support and create a network of peacebuilders and local mediator towards achieving an enduring peace in the Bangsamoro.
