The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) held a two-day orientation program for its employees on March 28-29, 2023, at the Sardonyx Plaza in Cotabato City. The program focused on the MPOS Employees General Orientation and Orientation on the Republic Act 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act.
In her opening remarks, MPOS Chief Administrative Officer – Designate, Ms. Jalam M. Sugaran emphasized the relevance and significance of the activity, stressing the importance of gaining new learnings and knowledge while not forgetting the values and deliverables. “𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦, 𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦, 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴,” she said.
During the first session of the orientation, Atty. Sittie Amera T. Manalao of the Civil Service Commission (CSC-BARMM) discussed the Safe Spaces Act, which aims to prevent gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, workplace, and educational institutions.
Atty. Manalao emphasized that The act provides comprehensive measures and sanctions to ensure the safety of everyone, especially women and marginalized groups. “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳-𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘴, 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴, 𝘖𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴, 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘳 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦,” she said.
Following the orientation and discussion on the Safe Spaces Act, the presentation of the Ministry’s Administrative and Finance Division (AFD) and Technical Sections’ works and process flow.
On the second day of the activity, attention shifted towards the orientation of several government insurance agencies, namely the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), and Pag-IBIG. By providing an orientation on various government insurance agencies, the Ministry can ensure that its employees are informed and empowered to make the most of their benefits and resources.
