The Mindanao People’s Peace summit shows that peace and harmony is possible in Mindanao if the voices of the tri- peoples from the grassroots prevail.
The group’s main activity is facilitating the ‘Mindanao Grassroots Tri-People Women Conference’ which brings together women of different ethnic, religious, cultural, and social backgrounds together to discuss and share their perspectives and experiences and to co-create resolutions and initiative to advance women rights in Mindanao.
During the summit, all 36 participants were given the opportunity to share their experiences and advocacies from the breakout sessions and role-playing activities. Further, they were also introduced to the Tri-Justice System in BARMM and the different tools on how to make peace work.
According to Minister Hussein P Muñoz, “We chose you because we believe that you have a crucial part in peace building for the nation.” The summit concluded with a socialization night where the participants showcase their tribe’s culture through textiles and traditional dances.
