Davao City | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety’s key personnel attended the Bangsamoro Peace Institute Training of Trainers (TOT) from March 9-13, 2023 at the Go Hotels, Davao City. Around 30+ key participants from the Ministry had the opportunity to share their experiences and best practices, network with other peacebuilding practitioners, and develop action plans for the Bangsamoro Peace Institute (BPI).
The said BPI Training of Trainers (TOT) was organized by the Ministry in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a renowned international organization that specializes in conflict prevention, resolution, and peacebuilding. The TOT aims to equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to design, deliver and evaluate effective peacebuilding programs. It covered a range of topics, including conflict analysis, dialogue and mediation, human rights, gender and inclusion, and monitoring and evaluation.

The establishment of the Bangsamoro Peace Institute (BPI) aimed to capacitate, influence, support, and build a constituency of peacebuilders from law enforcement agencies, civil societies, ministries, agencies, offices, and other relevant stakeholders in the Bangsamoro, equip them with the fundamental education of peace and security in the region.
One of the mentors and well-known veteran peacebuilder, retired Prof. Saturnina “Bebot” Rodil expressed her hopes that the skills and knowledge gained from the BPI-TOT will further enhance the Ministry’s peacebuilding efforts and make a positive difference in the Bangsamoro and its communities. “𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨, 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘯𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘢𝘺 𝘥𝘪 𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘶𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦-𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦, 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘰 𝘢𝘬𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘺-𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘺 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯’𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴.” Prof. Bebot said.
The BPI-TOT is a timely and important initiative, given that the Bangsamoro Government is still in the transition period. Through building the capacity of peacebuilding practitioners, the Ministry and its peace partners are positive that the BPI TOT will contribute to the promotion of sustainable peace and development in Bangsamoro.
