Isabela City, Basilan| The Ministry of Public Orders and Safety’s Special Operation Division launched an initiative to enhance community involvement in public safety decision-making processes in the province of Basilan entitled “Mashuwara Kalilintad: Community Conversation on Public Order and Safety”. The activity was held on April 25 to 28, 2024 at the Kasinnahan Hotel and Resort Conference Hall, Isabela City, Basilan.
This community conversation activity aimed to foster ownership and responsibility among community members towards their safety, as well as building trust between them and law enforcement agencies, government offices, and other community stakeholder through open dialogue and collaboration.
“𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘬, 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘶𝘮𝘶𝘩𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘰.” Ustadz Sulaiman Hotong, a member of the Ulama Council in Basilan, emphasized the significance of the program in facilitating peace and order in the community.
He added, “𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘪𝘴𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳 𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘰𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘺𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵𝘰,” urging active cooperation and participation from the attendees.
The event underscored the importance of including a wide array of community members in decision-making processes. This community conversation is part of the Ministry’s regular activities to ensure that the solutions developed were comprehensive and reflective of the community’s collective wisdom.
