On June 13 to 14 2024, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) carried out a significant peacebuilding initiative in the municipality of Bayang for the Development of the Padang Karbala Historical Site where twenty (20) members of the Kota Padang Karbala Producer Cooperative underwent livelihood training under the Ministry’s Special Development Fund (SDF 2021), held at Ragayan Training Center, Poona Marantao, Marantao Lanao del Sur.
The training covered various methods to enhance the skills of the participants on rice, corn, and vegetable production and explore livelihood opportunities in the field. The technical assistance and comprehensive inputs on agricultural-related lectures and workshops was given by Sir Jamer D. Amer, the Program Assistance of MAFAR-Lanao del Sur. To create, operate and sustain also a livelihood opportunity of the cooperative, the MTIT-Lanao del Sur through the team of Ma’am Rohania Malawad, Trade Industry and Development Analyst, Malano Mai, the Focal Enterprise and Trade Development Division, and Norjannah Alloyodan, the Enterprise and Trade Development presented lectures and practical demonstrations and workshops to enrich participants’ knowledge in establishing and operating small business.
The program concluded with planning session aimed at advancing the cooperative’s livelihood activities and contributing to the development of Kota Padang karbala, Bayang; and to the progress of its marginalized community members.

The SDF 2021– Development of Padang Karbala Historical Site is part of the materialization of the MPOS’s mandate on peacebuilding, reconciliation and unification; and the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment in uplifting conflict-affected communities in the Bangsamoro Region, as outlined in the Bangsamoro Organic Law to rebuild, rehabilitate, and develop conflict-affected communities.
