Pikit, North Cotabato | The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) facilitated the long-standing conflict over internal land boundaries between Brgy. Langayen, Pikit, and Brgy. Dunguan, Nabalawag in SGA which began in 2011. The settlement took place at Madrasah Darayen Al-Islamie, Brgy. Langayen, Pikit, North Cotabato, SGA on August 31, 2024.
Representatives from both barangays attended the amicable settlement ceremony and thanksgiving kanduli. They pledged to end their conflict and formalized their agreement by signing it. This agreement is the result of collaboration with the stakeholders, community leaders, and key partners. As part of the MPOS mandate and its program, a temporary political land boundary has been established. Both parties have inspected the boundary area to confirm the official demarcation.
During the settlement ceremony, Mayor Dr. Anwar Z. Saluwang of Nabalawag Municipality SGA, emphasized that peace is essential for progress and community development. “𝘈𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘬 𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘢𝘺𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘨𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘺𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘥𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘣𝘰 𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘥 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘮, 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢-𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪 𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘩𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯,” Mayor Saluwang said.
In addition, Mayor Abdulbayan Abas of Tugunan SGA, acknowledged that conflict resolution is a crucial issue nationwide. He emphasized the need for effective alternative programs to address these disputes and highlighted the ongoing collaborative efforts to resolve conflicts within the BARMM Region. “𝘈𝘭𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘥𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩! 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘈𝘙𝘔𝘔 𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘗𝘖𝘚 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘴𝘢 𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘢𝘺𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯,” Mayor Tugunan said.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Morsie Mindog, representing MP Mohammad Kellie U. Antao’s office, discussed the development of joint initiatives focused on establishing a peace covenant. This agreement aims to be a clear and comprehensive document outlining the commitments of all involved parties. By creating a well-defined and formalized pact, the initiative seeks to ensure specific and actionable outcomes, preventing any vague or ambiguous interpretations that could hinder the effort. The goal is to establish a solid foundation for collaborative peace-building efforts that can withstand future challenges.
The rido settlement is part of the commitment and continuous efforts of the ministry to ensure and achieve public order, peace, and harmony in Bangsamoro communities.
