On March 7-8, 2023, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) conducted a training on Basic Records Management and Document Security at the Sultan Hall of Pagana Kutawato Native Restaurant in Cotabato City. The primary objective of the training was to enhance the skills of the MPOS workforce in managing and securing incoming and outgoing documents, following the best practices and management skills.
MPOS Chief Administrative Officer Jalam Sugaran emphasized the importance of the training in maintaining the security and confidentiality of the Ministry’s records. She said: “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦, 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘥𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵. On the first day of the training, Mr. Abdulhamid C. Alawi, Jr., the Chief Policy Development and Coordination of the Ministry of Human Settlement and Development (MHSD-BARMM), presented and discussed the various stages of records management, the salient features of the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and 5S principles.
The second day of the training was dedicated to breakout sessions, wherein the participants were divided into groups to discuss different forms of records management. The groups later presented their proposed policies and best practices to the top management of the Ministry.
The training was conducted to support the implementation of best practices and management skills in the MPOS workforce, in line with the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to promote efficient and effective public service delivery.
