Twenty (20) widows of martyred MILF members from the Municipalities of Sultan Kudarat and Datu Montawal, Cotabato City, and Special Geographic Areas participated in a peacebuilding training facilitated by the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in partnership with the Office of Member of the Parliament Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. The activity took place at the Em Manor Hotel in Cotabato City, BARMM, on April 5 and 6, 2024.
As part of the Peacebuilding Initiative, the participants received financial assistance amounting to Php 20,000 (twenty thousand) pesos each as support to their livelihood and transition to a conflict-free community.
Ms. Salama Abdullah, a widow of a Mujahideen, underscored the program’s significance for the beneficiaries. “𝘓𝘶𝘣𝘰𝘴 𝘱𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘪 𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵𝘰. 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘶𝘣𝘰𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢 𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘺𝘢𝘭 𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘣𝘶𝘸𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘩𝘢𝘯,” she said.
Furthermore, Mr. Alimodin H. Pinamaloy, Political Affairs Officer III, Office of the MP Sinolinding , BTA BARMM, extends his message to the participants, “𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘥𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘯𝘶 𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪 𝘯𝘶 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘐𝘯𝘪𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘱 𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪 𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘵 𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘺𝘢.”
The participants underwent a lecture and discussion on “Building a Culture of Peace in Islam” by Ustadza Anisa Taha and “Islamic Concept of Moderation” by Ustadza Jihan Batiting, both from the Women Tarbiya Council. Moreover, this activity became an avenue for the participants to share their narratives and realities as widows of Mujahideen.
MPOS believes that through this intervention the beneficiaries will become viable partners and peace advocates of their respective communities in sustaining the gains of the peace process.
