On April 11-13, 2023, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) partnered with the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) conducted a “Comprehensive Rido Profiling Roll-Out in the BARMM Special Geographic Areas (SGA)”. The roll-out took place at the Municipal Police Station and Infantry Battalion Function Hall of North Cotabato – SGA – BARMM.
The Philippine Army (PA) through Lt. Col. Rey C. Rico, Commanding Officer of the 34th Infantry Battalion, 6ID, PA, supported and highlighted the significance of the comprehensive rido profiling in enhancing the Ministry’s data-gathering process concerning existing ridos in BARMM.
He said, “𝘐𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘪𝘥𝘰 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘰 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢-𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘰. 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘪𝘥𝘰, 𝘪𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘯𝘰. 𝘋𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘥 𝘯𝘢 𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘺𝘰𝘯.”
The roll-out activity was attended by around 60 representatives from the Barangay Local Government Units in SGA, as well as the Municipal Police Stations of Carmen, Kabacan, Pikit, Aleosan, Midsayap, and Pigcawayan, and the 34th Infantry Battalion. The Ministry’s program Alternative Dispute Resolution through the Community Affairs Officer in SGA under the Alternative Dispute Resolution Division made the activity possible.
Jimmy Adil, Former Area Coordinator of Pikit, expressed his gratitude for the event, stating that it is the right time and place for peace-makers and key leaders to discuss peace. “𝘐𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘢 𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘰𝘯, 𝘭𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘨-𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘢𝘯. This initiative is part of the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to strengthen efforts in resolving ridos in the Bangsamoro region. Similar activities were also carried out in other Bangsamoro areas and provinces, namely in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and in the Bangsamoro island provinces.
