Parang, Maguindanao del Norte | Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) and its key partners intervened in a long-standing feud between two (2) families. The feud, which had caused significant unrest, was brought to a conclusion at the Municipal Hall of Parang, Maguindanao del Norte on May 25, 2023.
Local mediators, barangay officials, and respected community leaders swiftly took action and sought assistance from the Ministry to prevent further violence and bloodshed.
During the intervention, Mr. Indar Karudin Shaykul Qura, a representative from LGU-Parang, stressed the importance of early resolution in rido cases (family feuds), emphasizing the need to address underlying issues promptly. He said, “𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯’𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵.” He also highlighted the negative consequences of prolonged conflicts that affect the community as a whole.
The successful resolution of this conflict serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the collaborative initiatives undertaken by the MPOS and its partners. It showcases the commitment of the Bangsamoro Government to foster a united and harmonious society, where disputes can be resolved through dialogue and mediation.
