On February 4, 2023, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety officially launched the Bangsamoro Peace Institute (BPI) at Pagana Kutawato Hall, Cotabato City.
The said launching was graced and witnessed by guests and partners from the academe, civil society organizations, law enforcement agencies, the Bangsamoro government, and other agencies with peace interventions in the region. Also, major peace partners from the United Nations Development Programme, UN Women, International Organization for Migration, and United States Institute of Peace (USIP) graced the event and delivered messages of support.
Dr. Andrew Wilder, Vice President of the United States Institute of Peace, stressed in his keynote speech that inclusive participation is one of the critical factors of a progressive peace process. The Bangsamoro Peace Institute (BPI) aims to capacitate, influence, support, and build a constituency of peacebuilders from law enforcement agencies, civil societies, ministries, agencies, offices, and other relevant stakeholders in the Bangsamoro, equip them with the fundamental education on the nature, dynamics, and prospects of peace and security in the region.
