The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in partnership with the Commission on Audit (COA) -BARMM, conducted a four-day seminar on “Laws and Rules on Government Expenditures (LARGE)” at the COA-Annex Building, PSAO Maguindanao. This seminar aimed to educate accountable officers, including those in operations, accounting, auditing, finance, and procurement, on the laws and regulations governing government fund disbursements covering various aspects like personnel services, travel expenses, procurement, capital outlay, and more.
MPOS Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid Balt has expressed his full support for this training, emphasizing its role in providing the Ministry’s personnel with a deeper understanding of government laws and regulations related to government expenditure. The diverse range of topics covered during the seminar increased participants’ understanding of public accountability in compliance with government expenditure rules and regulations. Strict adherence to these regulations throughout the Ministry’s operations is essential to ensure transparency and accountability, in alignment with accounting and auditing standards.
Atty. Rosario R. Dimen-Santos, one of the resource person from COA-BARMM, provided valuable insights to the participants, highlighting the significance of understanding government laws to avoid potential adverse consequences. “𝘓𝘢𝘸𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘩, 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘩 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘦𝘴. The seminar employed cases and exercises to enhance learning, with active participation from attendees to clarify doubts. This approach enabled participants to grasp fiscal laws and regulations related to government transactions. The activity was facilitated by the Accounting Section of the Administrative and Finance Division (AFD) of the Ministry.
The ultimate goal of this training is to bolster comprehension of public accountability and adherence to fiscal laws and regulations in terms of compliance reporting within the Ministry, leading to increased work efficiency and effectiveness.
